Calvary Christian School reopened there too, welcoming back 330 students.

One of the fortunate ones: the church building and parsonage came through the fire standing, and the congregation continues to worship at its longtime Sunset Boulevard home. It is also where the Palisades Optimist Club resumed in-person meetings on September 1 — 9:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room, its first gathering in town since the fire.

A roughly $40M public-private rebuild — the City with Rick Caruso's Steadfast LA and Lakers coach JJ Redick's LA Strong Sports (the rec center is where his kids played before his family lost their Palisades home). Demolition of the old gym began in late May 2026; construction of the new two-story center (Gensler + SWA design), outdoor plaza, multipurpose field, and tennis pavilion is expected to begin around September and run 14–18 months, for a late-2027 opening. During construction the playground and outdoor basketball courts are closed; the tennis courts, ball field, and bocce courts remain open, and rec staff have relocated to Rustic Canyon.
