🏘 Marquez Business District — Where They Are Now
The neighborhood storefronts at Marquez and Sunset were all lost in the fire.
Property owners are planning to rebuild the commercial district, and several former tenants
have already expressed interest in returning. Latest (Palisadian-Post, Aug 28, 2026): three of
the four property owners are partnering on a two-story rebuild with architect Rich Wilken, one
of them targeting completion in about a year; the fourth parcel (the Paws N' Claws / Animal
Clinic / Knolls Pharmacy lot) has not committed. The pre-fire roster included:

Groza lost its longtime center at 881 Alma Real, Suite 115. It continued

Fay and Ben Vahdani's offices at 881 Alma Real, Suite 316A, were destroyed,
but Luxe continued serving Palisades and Westside clients and now operates from Brentwood.
The heart of town is back. After a $100 million restoration, Rick Caruso's Palisades
Village at 15225 Palisades Village Lane reopened Saturday, August 15 with about 70% of its tenants
trading and the rest following over the coming months. Caruso didn't stop at his own property line:
he put millions into Sunset Boulevard itself — new trees and streetlights, repaired roadway,
repainted crosswalks and curbs — making the business district the most finished-looking stretch of the
Palisades today. Center hours: shops Mon–Thu 11 a.m.–6 p.m., Fri–Sat 11–7, Sun 11–6; restaurants to
10 p.m.; free parking through September 30 (garage opens 9 a.m., valet 11); concierge
(310) 648-3215.

Village listing still shows it as coming soon, and owner Amanda Rastegar has

Returning tenant, back in its space on the Swarthmore side — the

advertising a September opening.
New to the Village, but not open yet — the Village listing now says
"coming soon," and the Palisadian-Post reports a February 2027 target. (Corrected

The new martial-arts gym opened with a ribbon-cutting and open house on
August 15–16; regular classes begin August 17. Co-owners James Gavsie, Freddy
Cerrato, and Justin Caruso, with a women's self-defense session on the Village
calendar August 20.
The first brand-new business to open in the Palisades since the fire
(July 1). Owner Michelle Murphy, who lost her home in the fire, stocks goods from
fire-impacted local makers — and plans mahjong nights and book clubs in the shop's
living-room corner.

Obsessed boutique) and Michelle Good have opened their nearly 1,000-square-foot general
store next to Gerry Blanck's, with a grand-opening celebration planned for Saturday,

Reopened August 15, 2025 after months of fire repairs — rebuilt with an
expanded pharmacy, private consultation and vaccination rooms, and a refreshed store.

The family-owned hardware store (Anawalt since 1923) came through the
fire with only minor damage and reopened February 14, 2025 — among the first
businesses back, supplying the tools and materials the rebuild runs on, with staff
expertise to match.

The Palisades-raised painter of the town's mountains and coastline lost
her studio and her Antioch apartment in the fire — and reopened in a new studio on
Stanford in May 2025. Nearly 20 years teaching classical painting in the Palisades
and Malibu; originals and commissions available.

The Highlands store reopened July 28, 2025 after nearly seven months
dark — rebuilt as part of Starbucks' fire-recovery commitment — and the coffee bar
inside Vons pours seven days a week.

After 43 years in the Palisades, Gerry Blanck lost his Marquez Avenue
studio in the fire — and reopened in the Highlands with a June 1, 2026 grand opening,
after former students helped raise the funds. The former world kickboxing champion
has trained everyone from local kids to Tom Hanks.

The longtime Marquez-area wellness center lost its Bollinger Drive location
in the fire and has relocated to Santa Monica, where owner Stephanie Kanan and the team
continue serving Palisades clients.
The family-owned shop lost its longtime 16628 Marquez Avenue location in
the fire and relocated to Thousand Oaks. It continues serving customers from Ventura
County through the South Bay.
The Palisades' hometown women's boutique since 1994 is back open in its
Monument Street shop — "standing with our community, stronger than ever," as the
owners put it after the fire.
Cousins Michael Canale — colorist to Jennifer Aniston — and Jeffrey
Martinez have run their Monument Street salon since 2015, and they're back at work
in the building.

The reformer studio welcomed clients back on August 11 — group
classes plus private and semi-private training, with the first class free for
new clients. The class schedule is still ramping back up (busiest early in the
week), so check the online schedule before you go.

The Westside interiors destination known for its coastal style —
vintage European finds with California ease — is moving back into the Antioch
shop: as of September 4 the paper is off the windows and the store is setting up
inside. No opening date announced yet; we will update this card when it is.

Husband-and-wife team Michael and Jaimie Geller have curated designer
and custom fine jewelry in the Palisades since 2008 — and are "home" again on
Sunset as of July 2026, in the same building as Marram Bath and Kitchen.
The custom window-treatment showroom (the company dates to 1946) is
open on Antioch — handy for every rebuilt and refurnished home in town. Call ahead:
the company's own showroom page still reads "temporarily closed" (posted hours
Mon–Sat 10–6, Sun by appointment).
Building materials · Lumber, block, rebar, aggregates & cement

The family-owned LA supplier (since 1950) opened a temporary lumber
and materials yard at Sunset and Via de la Paz on June 18, 2026 — stocked
specifically so rebuilding homeowners and contractors don't have to truck
materials over the hill.
The in-town 76 gas station on Sunset is pumping again — gas and a
convenience store, an easy stop for the rebuild crowd running between Anawalt
and the lumber yards.

The second Chevron along PCH, at the foot of Chautauqua next to State
Beach Liquor — with the Sunset-corner station, the coast highway is covered in
both directions.
The gas station connected to the car wash, tucked right behind
Anawalt Hardware — the pumps are back on around the clock under new operator
Trevor Gray. One of the first comforts back after the fire, as CTN reported
that February.

The Palisades pizzeria lost its Via de la Paz shop in the fire and
reopened in Brentwood within weeks. Owner Robert Flutie has now signed a lease to
come home — a Sunset Boulevard space at Antioch (the former Noah's corner), with
a July 4, 2027 opening in mind. Until then, the same pies are ten minutes away.

The hand car wash on La Cruz is open seven days — one of the small
Zorensky-building tenants (with Ruby's Nails and the Garden Cafe) keeping the
center of town running through the rebuild.

Reopened March 25, 2026 in a rebuilt 5,500-square-foot, two-story branch
with valet parking, two ATMs, and private banking areas. More than 660 safe-deposit
boxes were recovered after the fire and returned to customers.
The branch reopened in spring 2025, with staff on hand for fire-recovery
paperwork — FEMA applications, document replacement, and insurance-claim questions.

BofA kept serving the Palisades from a temporary banking center after
the fire, and its locator lists the Sunset branch open weekdays. A fully rebuilt
permanent home — the former Pharmaca space on Sunset — is slated for 2027. Call
ahead to confirm the current site.
City National Bank (15273 Sunset, at the Village) is listed under
Opening Soon until its doors reopen.

In the Palisades Village directory, but not among the August 15 openers —
the bank's own locator still lists the branch as temporarily closed (checked September 4)
and says it is "preparing to reopen" (the Palisadian-Post reported a September target); clients can
bank at any nearby Los Angeles location in the meantime. Serving LA since 1954. We'll move it to the banks list the day the doors
open.
The market did not open with the rest of the Village on August 15 —
its return to the rebuilt center is now slated for January 2027, per Erewhon and
the Village directory's "coming soon" listing.
Confirmed in spring 2026 that it will rebuild at its longtime corner,
promising a modernized store with Gelson's Kitchen, full deli, and catering — but no
construction timeline or reopening date has been announced. In August, Rick Caruso
publicly urged both Gelson's and Ralphs to move faster, saying the community needs
a traditional market back.
The store was destroyed in the fire. A return to the Palisades is
expected, but the rebuild is reported to be years away with no construction
timeline yet.
The IV-therapy and vitamin-injection studio has not reopened since the fire; as of September 4 its Village space is listed for lease.
