About this map. Built from public records: parcel boundaries and structure-damage assessments from Los Angeles County (CAL FIRE DINS), and building-permit records from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety open-data feed. The destroyed/major-damage figure counts parcels of every property type — about 3,900 single-family homes plus individual condominium parcels, apartments, mobile homes and commercial and civic buildings. “Permit issued” means a new-building permit exists; “under construction” means LADBS inspections are underway on that permit; “rebuilt” means it has been finaled or a Certificate of Occupancy issued. ⚡ markers show parcels where LADBS has approved the Service/Power Release inspection — the meter is released to LADWP for permanent power, typically energized within days. Progress figures are estimates derived from source data that lags and can contain errors — this is an informational graphic, not an official permit tracker.
